This talk provides an overview of psychological principles relevant to working with voice and vocal health. It discusses research characterising psychological features in voice disorders, reviewing the different ways in which psychological factors might play a role in the development and maintenance of vocal health and voice difficulties. The talk aims to provide a balance between theory and practical application, including suggestions for the use of psychological skills when working with adult voice users. The presentation will interest those working within and outside clinical contexts, and anyone wishing to increase their understanding of psychological concepts related to voice and vocal health.
