Van Lawrence Prize – Call for Papers – extended deadline

The BVA Van Lawrence Prize

The British Voice Association (BVA) is calling for submissions (initially in the form of a 250-word abstract) for this prestigious award, to present at the BVA Research Forum (held online) on Saturday 24 January 2026.The (extended) deadline is Midnight Monday 27 October 2025.

The Van Lawrence Prize is open to members and non-members of the BVA, including students, and carries a cash prize of £500.

Submissions to present on any aspect of VOICE may relate to:

  1. Quantitative and/or qualitative research that reviews and crystallises existing studies to provide valuable insights, OR breaks new ground, and which has not been previously published.
  2. Experiential/papers/case studies based on a practitioner’s experience that invigorates the profession through valuable experiential findings, and which has not been previously published/presented.
  3. Research of a group or multi-authored but presented by one person only.
  4. All media will be considered: presentation with (or without) audio-visual aids.

Guidelines for Initial submissions:

  • An abstract of no more than 250 words. (Do not put your name on the abstract.)
  • A brief biography of no more than 100 words.
  • Made on separate pages with a print size of 10 point or more in double line spacing
  • Send to: administrator@britishvoiceassociation.org.uk marked Van Lawrence submission.  An acknowledgement will be sent upon receipt.
  • Those short-listed will be notified by Friday 28 November 2025.
