Launch of the BVA Research Group

With the launch of the newly formed BVA Research Group, the BVA is creating three exciting opportunities for member researchers from any field of voice to showcase their work and profile. We especially welcome new graduates and early-career researchers.
The opportunities on offer: (1) a profile in the magazine section of the BVA website on you and your research; (2) an invitation to apply for a research presentation at St Andrew’s University Pedagogy Course; (3) an invitation to individuals and teams to propose seminars for the ongoing (and very successful) Talk Voice series and other BVA hosted events.
The BVA Research Group is comprised of Dr Rebecca Moseley-Morgan (Chair), Jenna Brown, and Dr Nikos Spantideas. We are honoured to have Professor Graham Welch as Patron of the BVA Research Group, who is the Established Chair of Music Education at University College London (UCL). His research publications number approximately four hundred and fifty. Key research themes embrace musical development across the lifespan, music education, teacher education, the psychology of music, singing and voice science, and music in special education and disability.
Dr Rebecca Moseley-Morgan, former Chair of Education for the BVA, has a PhD in voice science and is currently writing a book on mature voices due for publication in 2026.
Jenna Brown is a singer and vocal health specialist providing vocal rehabilitation and vocal massage. She is currently a PhD candidate at UCL. Jenna has recent publications on voice and choral pedagogy.
Dr Nikos Spantideas, Past President of the BVA (2023-24), is an ENT specialty surgical registrar and a Speech and Language Therapist. He has published papers on voice and voice pathology.
